just bought this viceroy lathe and im quite new to these older machines had a chester modern machine previous the problem i have is with the auto feed gear it seems something is missing or broken as it wont work ive posted pics( i hope ) to see if anyone can shed me some light on the fault .
ive converted it to single phase and hoping to keep it for a long time and clean and service it .it cost me £180 and hope ive not wasted my money with the feed fault as it is
cheers gaz
I'm a bit mystified ?
In what way is it malfunctioning ?
Does the leadscrew revolve when the lathe is running and the gears are engaged ?
If you grab the leadscrew you should be able to turn it by hand and all the gears should turn.
(obviously not with the tumbler drive engaged though).
I think there is a little shearpin connecting the leadscrew to the rest of the works.
