I recently received and installed the Quickcam 2D software. The software works as expected except that it will not pick the tool up when moving between cuts like font letters and some places on graphic dxf designs. I checked the version and it seems to be the current one. I have version 1.8xxx

This is a common problem but is caused by incorrect tool selection.
If you have a 6mm cutter selected and are for instance engraving a letter 0 that is quite small the program sees that the distance between the inner and outer circle is much less than the tool diameter so allows it to move without lifting.
The reason for this is when cutting lines that are broken (typically a trace of a graphic) the tool would be constantly lifting and plunging to follow the lines.
The solution is to enter a tool diameter the width of the engraved line.
