I get sparks coming from the rear of my Router Motor near the carbon brushes

This probably means that the carbon brushes are at the end of their working life. Sparks are generated when the brushes are worn (through use) and become too short to make contact with the commutator and can cause a carbon build up on it.
Carbon brushes are consumables and can be purchased from Denford Ltd

Another sign that the motor brushes are worn is that the motor will not always start. If you manually revolve the spindle the brushes make contact in a different area of the motor armature and the spindle may start.
If the spindle will not start and you think brushes could be the cause. Manualy turn the spindle by hand then try to start again. If it then runs the chances are the brushes need replacing.
