Starturn-problems with my controller
Hi,
I have problems with my starturn
it have the reference E04071 made in 1992, I have the controller, the starturn and a desktop tutor but I do not have any programs, The only information I have is the controller uses the software fanucld v 1.0, I download fanucld and the sofware runs very well with the desk-top tutor, I can simulate my cnc programs, I use windows XP service pack 2, but I can't link it to my controler, I cant found any documentation about my controller.
The main board of my controller is lcb3 and have a chip "E929 MIRAC v2.0 R1.1 LCB3 U5"
Can i use this software or i need other?
Where I can found information about this controller?

I think the software has to be run in DOS mode :(

To run the machine you will probably need an older PC.

You could try running it on DOS emulation software that runs on XP.

delay to response
Hi guys,

I have a staturn, I use the software fanucsld, the lathe have a delay of very seconds to response to the orders of the desk top tutor, when I say very seconds are 10 to 30 seconds¡¡

It is normal or how can I change this situation?

I would guess that those delays are down to the RS232 communication when running in XP - maybe because buffer size is 16 bytes, and the delay you are seeing is a timeout (maybe :? )

You really need to run this software under a DOS environment, try the suggestions here:

"cannot thread"
HI
I used a STARTURN, the software is fanucsld and I run it in dosbox, i made some proyects with it and work ok, but now I have this problem, when I try to made a thread the lathe marks the error "cannot thread", I´ve tried with a lot of ways changed my G codes and is the same problem.
I don´t have any manual about my STARTURN and I don´t know the limits of this model of lathe.

¿In this model of STARTURN is posible made thread?
¿where i cant found information about the limits of this lathe?

The old Starturn has a maximum feedrate when threading of approx 300mm/min.

For example...
a 1mm pith thread = a max spindle speed of 300rpm
a 0.8mm pitch thread = a max spindle speed of 375rpm

make sure you're CNC prpgram is inside these parameters
problems with the spindle
HI

I have a problem, when I try to make thread and error appears and the screen displays "cannot thread", I entered the parameters that you suggest and the error continue.

The Starturn parameters for the spindle are 100 to 1800 But I´ve noted the speed of the spindle is wrong, when I enter the spindle in higher speeds than 1000, it can´t do it, and the software says spindle speed around 900.

what can i do?
is there any form to adjust the spindle speed?
can this problem be the cause the Starturn cannot thread?

The message "Cannot Thread" is being reported back from the machine controller electronics. This is probably becuase of an incorrect CNC program. Post the threading section of your CNC program to the forum. make sure you include the spindle start / speed lines.

Re: incorrect spindle speed, If the speed is OK but the display is wrong then check the sensor disk at the back of the spindle clean and not loose (it is 2 x optical sensors on a slotted disk at the back of the spindle).
