Laser slow to power up (48v) and "Z" crashes
VL300 50Watt has intermitent fault.

1. It is slow to turn both 48volt DC power supplys on. (It can take up to 30 seconds). If the Bofa unit is turned on then the vibration seems to initiate the power supplys coming on.

2. When this happens the "Z" then drives upwards & crashes into the nozzle. I presume this is because there is no power to the drives when the "Z" is first asked to run.

3. I have now fitted a brand new CPU & a USB hub card to the machine & checked all connections.

4. When it fails I have tried to tap & move connections but it seems to power up when it wants.

5. 240 Volts is always present at both drives.

ANY IDEAS

Maybe you should check the power supplies. Each power supply has a little green LED on one side where the output wires are. It should be a solid green. If it is flickering, then the power supply is bad. Also, try unplugging the laser tube and then turn on the machine. Let me know if it works correctly with the laser tube unplugged. Are they using the cutting table? If using the cutting table, have them remove it and try with the regular table.

I have now fitted 2 new 48volt power supplies which have cured the problem
