Original orac motor
Hi, I wish to run the original orac lathe motor from a vfd. My understanding is that the motor can be run from a vfd. I have looked inside the motor wiring housing but there is no information to be seen on the wiring configuration settings. Can someone please let me know if I need to just wire the motor up as it’s set or do I need to change the positions of the metal bridging connections, if so to which position. I have attached a picture showing the motor wiring etc.

From what I remember the links are shown on the inside of the lid.

Re: Original orac motor
Bit late but connect as is, power supply from VFD 1 leg to each set of linked terminals.
If direction is wrong interchange any 2 lines.

Re: Original orac motor
If your Asea Orac motor is the same as mine you may already have found the wiring legend cast into the underside of the wiring cover as Martin noted but here's an image of mine. Somewhat better than the usual paper label I've found degraded in most motors.

Re: Original orac motor
I run my original Orac motor with a modern VFD and this runs really well.

If you need some more information, just let me know.
