1008 Spindle Drive Fault and 1017 Spindle Drive Overheat
Hi All,

New to the forum here, we have a Denford Cylone that has been running fine for the last few years, however mid-way through running a program the machine alarmed out with the following alarms:

1008 Spindle Drive Fault
1017 Spindle Drive Overheat
1032 Drive Transformer Overheat

I managed to clear the 1032 alarm by adjusting the Diagnostic Parameters. However I cannot clear the 1008 and 1017 Alarms. On startup, there is no loud "thump" as the contactors usually drop in. We have checked the obvious (Slideway Oil Level as I have heard this can generate an E-Stop Fault), and we had a spare spindle motor here that we wired in and tried, but still the same alarms.

Regarding age and serial number of the machine, I couldn't actually find an information plate on the machine but took a few pictures as attached.

Very much appreciate any suggestions for what to check!

Thanks,

Have you checked the Thermal sensor on the big Balast Resistor ?

Fanuc does a full "sweep" of everything to make sure all is OK at startup, as you rightly say a peripheral like slideway oil level will trigger the 1008 alarm so as you also have an overheat alarm I would check that sensor, that great big resistor gets extremely hot, especially if you have been running a lot of CSS movements !!!
After that it is check fuses and the re-set on the spindle drive if there is one :D

Rob
