saving tool offsets, broken e-stop, maintenance
i'm new to CNC.
i'm working on vr turning with the test file and a microturn

1)the instructions on the step by step tutorial say to triple click on offset 1 to edit the name of the offset. i can do that but after i hit enter it does not save the name i've written. next, when i close the work offset window after using the datum to change z and x offset, the program says that it is unable to save the work offsets.

2)the emergency stop button seems not to be working. i can only turn it off by unplugging it.

3)this machine has been sitting in a closet for 10 years. is there any maintenance i should be doing to it?

1. The following directory should beread/writable by all users. C:\Program Files\Denford\VRTurning\

2. Check that the E-Stop button contact block is conneceted to the back of the switch.

3. The slides may need lubricating with a small amount of oil & the leadscrews lubericating with grease.

oops, i must have been logged in a student. i can write to those files and it works when i log in as an administrator.

the e-stop seems to be hooked up, but not working. instead of electronics troubleshooting, i've hooked it up to a power strip and i'm using that as the e-stop

thanks for the info on lubrication.

on the issue of lubrication, i've actually been in touch with a denford rep and they said
"you DO NOT want to use Oil on the ways and lead screws. Use a spray "Dry Silicone " lubricant on the machine"

Dry Silicone spray is the best solution for our Routing machines.
However, the Micromill machines are mechanically different, so grease on the screw and oil on the slides is best for them.
