Turret problem part 2
Well, it seems the problems we found were not the overall cause of our troubles.

What is happening now is the turret will rotate and lock once if activated manually, but a second posistion will not take place if the position knob on the lower part of the control is put to another tool position number.

We have noticed that one of the relays in the back of the machine that operate when the turret rotates stays down for a period of time, while this is down you can not activate a turret operation. The relay seems to time out, and then allows rotation.
This relay or contactor is the one furthest from the coolant pump one, labelled something like TRFC
My suspect areas are,
1. The relay inside the turret mechanism beside the green rotary transponder, or what ever it is called.
2. That awful multi plug connector at the top of the cabinet thats just above the Z axis slide.
3. Faulty contactor, but doubt this, or a broken wire
4. Something wrong with the "Green thing" inside the turret housing, something I recall reading on another post.

Any ideas or suggestions welcome

I would think it is more likely to be the toolpost clamp switch inside the turret. You should be able to monitor it in the Diagnostic tab.

Many thanks.
I will have to ask where this is located, and what diagnostic bit, and where that is hiding.

Amendment.

I think I have called the microswitch, mounted in the end of the turret control housing, beside the green rotary switch, a relay.

I guess this is what you call the turret clamp switch ?

The is a RH-80 turret

Re: Turret problem part 2
It should release as soon as the turret rotates & then activate when clamped.

I have replaced these before.

I believe they can be bought from Scattergood & Johnston.

Thanks
We are talking about the same thing I trust, the tiny micro switch mounted on the plate that is inside the housing on the right hand side of the turret control. If so , any part number or technical description please would be useful so I can order a replacement from the link you gave me

Re: Turret problem part 2
Yes I think we are. It's the small brass Honeywell micro switch mounted below the rotary switch inside the turret end plate on the RH-80.

I am not sure of the part number though.

Many thanks.
I will call the company and order one, but am not near my machine so cant get technical details, wonder if you can offer size, ratings etc as something to give to supplier to order one.

Re: Turret problem part 2
I have had a look around but can't see any details on it.

I know it is similar to what was fitted in a Honeywell 3 way I once had if that helps.
