Setting the focal height
Hi,

I was cutting some 6mm laser ply yesterday but the laser would not cut right through. I have looked on the forum and have seen the post about the new laser cartridge so rang Denford to check on price - WOW!

The gent I spoke to said to check the focal height before I do this as they can become mis-aligned. I have read the pdf's relating to this but am a little stcuk as I have neither the manual focus tool or the engraving bed (I only have the honeycomb bed).

What would be the best port of call to move forward with this?

Cheers

Re: Setting the focal height
Hi,

The best way to get back fully operational would be to purchase an engraving table and focal height tool, though i suspect the cost may be a little off putting. The focal height is set with the Focus tool sitting on the engraving table. The engraving table is 1/8" thick and when i have measured the focus too it is around 48mm, therefore my first guess would be to set the focal height at around 51mm and see how you go.

Re: Setting the focal height
I the Engraving bed is 1/8" thick then the cutting table (Honeycomb bed) is around 1-3/8" thick.
Re: Setting the focal height
How much would the engraving table be roughly if I was to buy one?

I'm halfway through making a height tool after copying the one from th school I used to work at. Not quite finished the milling for the flats!

Definitely need to get back up and unending ASAP!
