Hi All

Another longshot but has someone got for sale a fixed steady that will fit an ORAC, need support for some long shafts to drill and bore the ends.

Rgds, Emgee

UPDATE.

Just bought a 2nd hand cast iron steady, needs some modification to suit the Orac bed, will post a pic if and when sorted.

Re: fixed steady to fit an ORAC lathe, modified and fitted
Attached picture of the converted steady for my Orac, had to remove a good big lump of the casting on one side and then 6mm off the bottom to achieve centre height.
Picture shows as bought steady in cream colour.
Cheated with the "V" in the base by cutting a slot square to the base with 1 side touching the bed and then using liquid metal after waxing the bed. Paint not an exact match but closest I had in stock !!!!

No idea what machine it was from, bought as from purchaser of Myford closing down sale parts,
could have been from a Myford. Fixing would have been over a flat bed, the right hand dovetail is shown in the 1st pic, the left side is faced and tapped, could have had a flat plate fitted to locate the dovetail on the other side of the bed.
The plate I added to ensure the fixing down force was spread to the lathe shears was a bit of belt and braces, probably not required as the casting is substantial.
