Hi All
Could some kind person please confirm the simplest test program to enter to check the CNC operation of an ORAC lathe. Looking in the manual I believe the following may work but need confirmation please.
To enter a program from Power ON press 5 followed by E on control pad.
p1 G71 mm
p2 G91 Incremental
p3 G50 Datum X00:Z00
p4 M03 Spindle ON
p5 G00 X-10 F400 Tool N0 1 Spidle Speed 2000 (use E key to advance to next)
p6 G01 Z-30 F100
p7 G00 X10 Z0
p8 G00 X0 Z30
p9 M05
p10 M02
Does G00 need a feed rate entered or does it go max ?
From further reading looks like the tool offset is entered before running the program by using Keys 7 and E ? As you may have gathered I do not have access to the machine yet.
Any and all advice much appreciated.
Thanks, Emgee
99.9% of CNC machines will run at rapid feed when a G0 is programmed without any Feedrate commanded.Does G00 need a feed rate entered or does it go max ?
They should also ignore any F value if it is programmed.
Sorry don't know about the other stuff on that vintage of machine
Hi Admin, thanks for the advice, seems all Orac users have upgraded to modern control systems. !!!!
Found more programs in the manual and think/hope I have enough detail to enter a test program.
Regards, Emgee

Hi Group,
Found some good information in the Orac manual which enabled me to input a program to test run all functions on the lathe in cnc mode. Will be using in the std mode for the time being, if I find entering programs a bore then will consider an upgrade. Had a problem with the Emergency stop button which should have a key to reset, the switch had been modded to allow switching/resetting without a key, I would like to return this to original if possible with the provision of a new switch with key, anyone have this from an upgrade ? Regards, Emgee

I'm sure you'll be able to drip feed programs to it from a PC...if I find entering programs a bore then will consider an upgrade
