Re: Sprint spindle controller settings

Manuals for the Sprint Drive are available from
https://www.sprint-electric.com/downloads/#manuals

The manual gives some guidance on setting the customer presets.

Re: Novamill Column Raising Block

Ben - yes that is the RS part number I purchased. Expensive for what it is, but made that part of the job pretty effortless. Do remember to note which wire/terminal goes in which hole!

Don't attempt it with a dodgy hand - I was concerned about possibly scarring mating surfaces when replacing the ...

Re: Novamill Column Raising Block

When I removed column from my Novamill (to cut weight for transit to new location) I disconnected all cables that go into the side of column from the multi-way connector on the side of the cabinet. This was to avoid chopping wires - I bought the proper Harting terminal removal tool (from RS) which ...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life

Barry,

See this thread https://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=5051 - post of 31st Jan and the link provided on how to re-use the optically isolated 0-10V (actually 0-11V) out from the Denstep board.

The PWM doesn't go via the 96 way header - you can do what is shown in the link, I ...

Sprint 400 on Novamill - interesting fault (and fix)

After months of putting things off, I eventually sorted out re-using the opto isolated 0-10V output on the Denstep board to take a PWM output from Linux CNC (basically same approach as recently reported here in another thread).

However, despite this the spindle would not run at all. One clue was ...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

The problem would be if you wanted a auto toolchange arm and carousal as that requires castings that we no longer have the patterns for.

That needn't be a huge problem these days - reproducing a pattern via 3D printing is fairly straightforward. There is always fabrication as an option too.

I ...

Disc Spring 28.0 O/D x 14.2 x 1.25 - I bought a bag full on-line from Associated Spring - they are a standard DIN size.

The extra drawings here should be helpful when I get round to doing some more work...

Re: Novamill Spindle

Thanks - that is very helpful.

Are similar parts lists available for drawings RM6_700 & RM6_700C ? (the ATC carousel).

Re: Novamill Spindle

Is the parts list available? The assembly drawings are of limited use without parts list?

What about part drawings - or is the ATC (or parts of it) used in a current/recent model ?

Re: ATC Carousel

I've come across assembly drawing RM6/700 - a corresponding parts list would help to make more sense of this.

ATC Carousel

I have drawings (but no parts list/BoM) for ATC spindle. Is any information available on Novamill ATC carousel?

I'm re-commissioning a Novamill (no ATC) and over time am thinking of adding ATC capability of some kind.

Re: Novamill Spindle

Can anyone clarify for me if the disc springs shown in drawing RM6/100 have a spacer between the upper and lower stacks, or if there is actually a single stack with rather more than the 14 springs shown?

Re: Smartstep / linuxCNC / novamill control

Angel tech, can you please advise which pin you connected to for PWM speed control ?

I can resolve the incorrect min/max issue by inverting the signal (in software or hardware).

Novamill - spindle PWM ?

I recently bought a Novamill. Current plan is to control it using LinuxCNC - I'd like to use the existing electronics as much as possible (and have the option to revert to original). From other threads I've found details of how to wire to the 96 way header on the controller base board for STEP/DIR ...
