Help wanted Identifying denford accessories

Could it be for taper turning?

Looking at the picture the taper should fit into the tail stock, the adjustment then moves the centre of the lathe centre line. This allows the stock to be spin at and angle to the machine x axis and turn tapers.
If it is not for taper turning I'll eat my hat.
