Business Card holder with Pewter Insert
This is a student project that combined two different assignments. He dsigned a mold and poured a pewter casting using his uncles business logo and incorporated this into a later assignment which was to design and manufacture a business card holder.

Hi,

Was the mold shown a first attempt? It looks like the student forgot to mirror the text first time round.

Where these designed in Quick CAM 2D?
Wrong Picture
I uploaded the wrong picture.

Yes, it was a first try. I always let students go ahead and machine if they haven't flipped the image. It becomes a great teachable moment for the rest of the class. Mistakes aren't a bad thing as long as you learn from them.

The design was done in QuickCam 2D, after the part was cast in pewter, sandblasted, then the raised image was lightly sanded to bring out the lettering.
