Hardware/Software: Starturn 4 Mach 3
full conversions on Boxford mill and lathes...
now working on Denford Starturn...

Hi to all.
Firstly thanks to all with the help on inputs / outputs. hi's or low's
After many nights work the first interface board for a starmill in now complete, just tested it out on the bench and works
realy well, the spindle speed control is now performing as it should, did find a slight glitch R18 in the above scematic
should go to +12v and not gnd. it is all opto isolated and electricaly isolated from the main 5volt supply, all the inputs / outputs are opto isolated.
at the moment it has 4 inputs and 8 outputs
Let me know if you re interested in the schematic and BOM for the board and i can send you a copy.
the interface should also work for the starturn lathe.

Hi Paul,
Nice work.
Testing on the actual m/c will be interesting.

Is the main motor spindle speed available to a program? Is there a signal available from which the spindle speed can be determined?

Okay, bit of thread necrophilia here but the drawings in this thread have proved extremely helpful, but I have a question. I see clearly the connections from the relay to the spindle motor but what has me totally stumped is the signal connection from Mach 3 to the board. Does this connect in any way to the 96 pin header? Any guidance with this would be gratefully received,

Many thanks.

Enable and direction are wired via the 96way header but speed goes directly to the PWM board
