Novaturn lathe moving the home position

Post by simon houlton » Mon 05 Mar , 2007 16:16 pm

We have a Novaturn lathe the process we need to run on the machine requires the home position to be moved closer to the chuck. We have made a longer trigger rail to be fitted in place of the original. I was just wondering what values I need to change in the machine parameters to allow this.

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

This is from a previous post:
To change software limits in VR Turning:
Menu Setup -> Machine Parameters... -> enter denny as password
OK -> click Machine Capability in tree for your machine -> decrease "Travel Z-" from -176 to say -200 which will add about an inch
of travel towards the chuck.
However, thinking about it - if you have moved the home switch closer to the chuck already, then you shouldn't need to change the parameters. The length of travel will be the same in Z, just that it is now shifted closer to the chuck.
(Obviously make sure you're not going to hit or break anything at the far end of travel  )
