threading with lathecam

Post by gilles310 » Wed 04 Feb , 2015 9:08 am

hi
do you know how change the thread pitch with lathecam ?
in the manual you can see you have to alter value in lcd.ini, and it appears in lcd.ini then you do this before file generate,
but the final thread still stay on the same pitch.
for example, you can't do: diameter 30 mm, thread lookup 1 mm
lathecam force to diameter 30 mm, thread 3.5 mm, even you have changed lcd.ini

Hi,

Lathecam has limited threading capability and would pick the correct thread pitch for the diameter of bar.

You may just have to edit the lines of code after post processing.

You could upgrade to QuickTurn 2D Design. This has far more advanced design features and lets you specify custom thread sizes.

Where are you located?

QuickTURN 2D needs to have tooling set to match the VR Turning software but within the limitation of the tooling you can design both internal and external parts including drilling boring and internal threading. QuickTurn 2D is £165

QuickTurn is a Lathe CAD and CAM package that would create program files in .FNL format.

You would not have to change anything on the machine to use it.

What age is your machine and are you using VR Turning software with it now?

hi steve
i use lathecam only or write programs by hand.
it seems miracpc only accept ".mir ".
mirac software use actually usuals tools, rough, part, boring bar, but don't know internal threading tool.
it can used "g71 two lines" and "G76 two lines", so you can do manualy programs to internal boring and internal threading.
