The settings in the material library of VR milling suggest 75mm/Min at 2500RPM with a cut depth 25% of tool diameter. Typically for a 6mm cutter.

Depending on the size of the cutter this will be about right.

The cutter type diameter and number of flutes will also require changes but start at these values and see how it cuts.

For larger diameter cutters reduce the spindle speed and for smaller ones increase it.

6mm dia is aprox 20mm circ speed is 2500RPM so surface speed of the tool is 20 x 2500 = 50000mm/min

Feed is 75mm/min so cut per rev is 666 Revs / mm cutting or
cut of 0.0015mm / Rev

Hi. I’m new to this form so hope I’m directing this question in the right place. Has anyone had experience tapping m2 and m3 threads in brass and aluminium using the vmc 1300? I appreciate I’ll need a tapping head but just wondering in the success rate of tapping holes this size. Thanks.
