Ref Viceroy screwcutting lathe TDS1/1 PCS

Specifically: I suspect bearing (chuck end) of headstock has developed a fault .

I have a parts list which lists Two bearings

Timken bearing LM676048/67010B

and Timken bearing 19150/1926B

I imagine these relate to taper roller bearings. Still available.but...are they flanged? I'm unwilling to undo head assembly in case it collapses in my hands and I can't replace?

Any advice gratefully received.

They are standard taper roller bearings.

See the various threads by Dazz regarding the strip-down and re-assembly of his spindle:
Removing the spindle
Removing the spindle - the rig
The spindle removed
Spindle refitting

I think the numbers above are slightly incorrect:
19150/1926B should read 19150/19268
LM676048/67010B should read LM67604B/LM67010B

According to this reference sheet, if both cup and cone have the 'B' suffix they are not flanged but have a steeper included angle compared to the basic number.

I never had one of those apart but I have had the later model apart and those were not. Also be aware that the inner race tends to be very tight on the spindle which makes effective adjustment very difficult. If you were to pull off those bearings and when re-fitting them they need a lot of affort to move along the spindle, or are even creaking as you do it, then take them off and give the spindle a good clean up with emery to ease the fitment.
