Not sure what dims you need, attached are a few pics of my fixed steady and a drawing of a travelling one I have found.

I could take some dims if you highlight what you need.

Are you in Uk ? I may have a spare screw cutting metal plate for a Metric box somewhere - need to check.

Richard.

Hi

Thanks for the replay. I needed distance from spindle axis and bed geometry. I whose hoping to aquire these dimensions. But as i needed the steady so i measured them. Hope it is ok. First parts are arledy cut. I'm making some thing like in picture.

I'm from poland. screw cutting metal plate? Do You mean thread table for the lathe? I manage to make a table in pdf from pictures. In attachment if enyone needs it. I'm currently looking for a set of metric gearbox stud gears beacouse i'm missing them also.

Piotr,

You have roller guides shown, consider making guides with bronze tips as well or instead of the roller ones. I have seen discussions about the pros and cons of each online but it's not something I have looked at recently but you may want to look at it if you haven't already. Both the fixed and travelling steadies I have on my Harrison M300 are bronze tipped as are 2 other fixed steadies I have. The only roller tipped one I have is one I made for supporting long plastic rod while turning it to size and that is a 3 roller travelling steady that fits in the tool holder. I think the issue with rollers was debris getting between the roller and surface being more likely to cause problems than with bronze pads. With the design you posted it would be easy to make each of the 3 supports from brass or bronze plate which would be like one of the ones I have which was made by someone to suit the Kerry 1140 lathe.

I have been thinking about bronze tipps. there are fixed steadys with the whole arms made of bronze but i'm thinking about steel arms and replacment tipps. Its more practical and in the long run cheaper.

Well I finally found time to get into the workshop (shed) today.

Hope its not to late for you with the dims.

As accurate as my old eyesight will allow !

Its a new programme called 'Sketch it up yourself' !

Your screw cutting .pdf looks very good - this is the plate I found.

hi

Thank You For Your's sketch. I actualy got the dims little wrong. Fortunatly the good way i have some material to remove. I'm going to weld it together and cut it witch wire edm maschine. In the end it turn out good beacouse it will be more precise than from laser cuting. In attachment there is a 3d model of my steady in stp file format if enyone have the same problem. Also Thank You for the screw cuting plate. The pdf is based on low quality picture and i will check it with Your's for any mistkes.
