triac vmc startup

Post by George P Pan » Wed 26 Oct , 2022 12:18 pm

Hello everybody

My name is George and except from a professional milling machine engineer job am also a teacher at a public technical school teaching cnc milling technology. So at school laboratory we have a triac vmc and I tried to turn it on but I have a problem as you will recognize from the pictures attached . I have found some manuals but there isn't any specific guidance about the startup of the machine. I believe that I need a 3.5 tape in order to start the machine but I don't know exactly what. I tried to download from your site ( https://www.denford.co.uk/dos-vintage-m ... formation/ ) some files in order to try but downloads don't start.
So I am writing to you in case you can help me by any means.

Thanks a lot
King regards George Panagiotidis

Hi George,

Have you got the machine serial number?

It should be on the serial plate on the electrical cabinet.

You will need to create a 3 1/2" boot disc & copy the dos files from the relevant files from the Dos download page.

i should be able to locate the original .opt & .go files from the serial number.

The 2 files on the bottom of the inspection sheet are the Fancmd.opt & Fanucmd.go file that you will need to transfer to the boot disc once you haave downloaded the Drivres & Fanucmd from the Denford website on to a 3 1/2" boot disc.

Hope that makes sense.

Hi and thanks for your help.
I manage to download from denford website fanucmd and drivers and unzip into the 3.5 disk also the 2 files you gave me. But i get " disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter "
So is there any specific way to make the boot disk?
Or I make something wrong?

Not sure what version of Windows you're using but there should be an option to copy the system files to the floppy or make bootable when formatting it . Some more details here https://kb.iu.edu/d/adav for DOS and should apply to the command prompt in Windows.

Knowing what the error is would be useful.
