rubber seal bearings or not

Post by hpe » Thu 24 Jun , 2021 19:18 pm

i mashed my spindle bearings ,they were bep . but i thought i would keep the rubbish out and fitted rs (rubber seal) bearings .

ive noticed the casting and spindle is getting hot ,43c

i have the angular contact bearings not too tight ,just enough to not wobble.

so is the issue with rubber seals and should i just hook them out and run open ?
thanks

Probably yeah,

the grease might not be good enough inside the sealed bearings.

and you must preload correctly, not light not hard, but in between.
