Spindle swap on 2600 router

Hi, can anyone please let me know if their is a single phase speed controller spindle that will just drop into place of the original single speed unit. My machine as the original spindle with a funny sort of collet with a circlip. I only have one of these collets and with know speed control it limits the machine to almost next to useless. I am based in the uk. Thanks
