As no one else has responded yet I thought I would ask if this is a system you have had running in the past and has now stopped working or if you're trying to get it working for the first time. This thread viewtopic.php?f=54&t=3167 mentions 'L' likely being a issue with loading the mint file so maybe a comms issue. To attach images use the facilities at the bottom of the posting page.

Worth checking first for any deposits around the battery on the Nextmove board as they are prone to leak electrolyte after many years which may effect the comms. If there are deposits they need to be removed with distilled or deionised water and dried. In many of the Denford installations the battery isn't required, I can't say about yours but the answer may be elsewhere on the BB. Make sure you're discharged and ideally use appropriate handling of likely static sensitive devices.

I would try with the EPROM it came with. Some good information here for the Nextmove ST http://www.abbmotion.com/support/suppor ... _01-10.pdf about communication with the board and fault finding and the earlier board https://www.baldor.com/Shared/manuals/1251-396.pdf , at least the RS232 connections are the same although it indicates the default comms parameters differs with the Nextmove using a higher baud rate.

Where are you located?

In order to run VR CNC Turning you will need a VR Eprom version 2.0 or 2.1.

Also I don`t think the RS232 lead you have shown in one of the pictures is correct.

You have a DOS EPROM fitted so cannot Run VR Turning.

Eprom is V1.6h/s

It is only the SmartStep/DenStep top board that needs the VR EPROM

If you put the original EPROM in the NextStep board are you able to detect the control using Denford Easy Upgrader?

Have you installed the Baldor USB Driver?

Have you selected Novaturn NS?

If you right mouse click on the orange banner in EasyUpgrader when you are connected then go to Advanced, (password is "dave") you can change the machine type. You may need to set it to Unknown.
