Hey everyone
So my novamill is now converted over to mach3 and working mostly well
I have a slight issue with the spindle however
When I set the rpm to something low like 450 I can turn it on and off to my hearts content - and also crank it up to 5000rpm as long as the spindle first started at a lower rpm
If I initially set the rpm to 5000 and then turn the spindle on it will start to move and then stop with the audible clicking of the relays. I then see the dwell and spindle buttons flash and I can’t re enable without power cycling the enclosure
I wonder if it’s a power draw issue?
My spindle is controlled over pwm from a parallel bob
And I’ve tuned it to be fairly accurate between software displayed rpm and actual real life rpm
Are there other settings I need to check?

Not sure if the Denford control goes at things straight at full speed. I would have thought the Sprint controller as a stand alone unit operated by a pot on the 3 wires would just have the 10v there the wiper picking up the voltage it is set to and then you enable the drive. Unless the 10v on the Sprint ramps up when enabled. Or if the output from the Denstep of Nextstep etc. controllers ramps up. i know the call for speed is just a line of G code at the speed required.
Ive not delved into this side of things before because i use the denford control. It might be worth looking through the Novaturn wiring drawings and the one for the Sprint controller.
I seem to recall something about the 10v needing to be isolated as it is at mains potential or something along those lines.

Hey thanks for the replay
The 0-10v is pretty instant
So all I did was to slow the acceleration on the sprint board manually and added a time delay to the mach3 config
This means the gcode will wait 15 seconds for the spindle to get up to speed
This seems to have worked around the issue and I can live with a 15 second pause
