spindle woes

Post by jonnydeen » Tue 09 Jul , 2013 21:09 pm

hi everyone.
having trouble getting the spindle running on my new (to me) novamill. i am able to jog all axes but no spindle movement
the sgr relay is clicking and the spindle drive on-led is illuminated but still no go
the belt is in place, spindle turns freely but no audible noise comes from the spindle motor

the machine is
1996
serial no, 60521a/2
electrical serial no, 0c00134831
software ver 2.96
smartstep 3 drives

run from vr milling 2.31.3.951

any ideas?

You need to check the armature voltage out of the spindle drive & continuity of the motor.

If it's been moved then check the pins in the harting plug.

thank you for the reply martin.

found the problem to be the safety interlock on the guard and the machine is now up and running well
