Invalid Platform Code

Post by petereggington » Tue 23 Jul , 2013 9:07 am

Hi,

We have just upgraded our Novamills VR Milling software to V5 and now we get a windows dialog box saying "Invalid Platform Code". I can press 'OK' but then when I try and home the machine I get a machine error warning (Yellow and Black hazard box) saying the machine is not safe. If I click details I get the reason which is the Guard is not Closed, although it is! The machine was working fine before the upgrade.

I know its a little wordy but I may be able to do some screenshots if it will allow me to upload some from work.

Thanks in advance for any help

Pete

Thanks for the link, is there a way to fix the issue I am having? I would suggest I have the older type 7 control firmware and the newer software is sending the type 9 .....52.mex

You can change the control type to 7 in the communication tab in machine setup.

Martin,

I need a password to change the settings in communications tab. Although it shows me what they are (but greyed out) without knowing it/getting the password wrong. It looks like the setting is all ready set for type 7 however. How do I find out what control type the machine will be for certain?

Does VR 5 require the type 9 control file and the previous version V2 require type 7?

Cheers for the help as always,
Pete

Hi Peter,

The password is "denny".

What colour is the seven segment led on the control card?

Have you updated the Baldor Control card?

You can update it by running EasyUpgrader which is on the VRMilling 5 CD or download it from the Denford website.

Tried running the Easy Upgrader but it thinks we have the current version.

We get an error message saying "Your card is not compatible with the very latest software"

Bootloader is out of date and cannot be updated. Please contact Denford........

Firmware: 5035
FCGA: 14
CPLD:9

Node:2

Out of curiosity I tired running it as a NovaMill PRO. Which had the control Type set to 9 in Machine Parameters and it worked! It allowed me to connect and jog the bed, although it get stopping as I guess its feed rates are set higher, 2000 instead of 200 in parameters.

It's up to you.

We can send the card off to Baldor for upgrade but you would need to cover the cost of P & P.

Or you can transfer the values to the Pro settings.
