Silly question but does the Mirac use a mix of proximity and contact switches for home and limit? My X home looks like a proximity and my Z limit feels like a contact switch. I'm just looking and feeling around for what I can without tearing the machine apart.

We used 2 different controls on the Miracs. GSM & Baldor. Both were fitted with sensors for homing the X & Z axis.

From looking at the drawings the GSM uses a three wire sensor & the Baldor a 2 wire sensor.

I removed the way cover to get a better look. Attached is what I was asking about. It appears there's a proximity switch on X and a roller contact switch on Z. So why is it like that? I'm assuming the proximity for safety reasons, but why use a contact switch that's subject to bounce and arcing issues. Is it the same on the opposite ends of each axis?

The switch in the second photograph is the Z- limit switch which can be adjusted to stop the tooling crashing in to the Chuck depending on what's fitted.
If you look on the opposite end of the bed you should see the datum proximity sensor.
