Connecting to denstep micromill

Connecting to denstep micromill USA

I am having trouble connecting to a denstep micro mill.
Currently I am using a vr milling 2 package on a window 7 computer.
All software is being run in xp mode.

I got a db9 rs232 board for my computer now I have a com1 and com2 port.
I am using a db9 to db25 adaptor cable.

So far I have fiddled with the various communication settings in the MINT software and device manager.

When I first started trying to connect my denstep board had an upside down 7 and a . Now it has changed to an 8 - I hope this means I connected to something.

You should be able to right click on the machine icon in VRMilling & then select search for machine.

Can you also confirm what version of VRMilling you are running.

I am using vr milling 2.0
And I have tried the connect button, it checks com 1, com 2; and then it quickly flips through the other coms

Im not sure if the vr milling software will work because right now I am bypassing the liscense dongle thing. I plan to actually buy the software if I can be sure the machine will work. Otherwise I think I'll switch to mach3 / Linux CNC stuff
