Micromill 2000 - RS232 Error

The “RS-232 cable not connected” error will only come up if the VR CNC Milling software is running and you are trying to connect to the machine. You will not get this error in MillCAM Designer.
If you are getting this error in VR CNC Milling, you may have the wrong machine selected and/or the cable is loose at the machine or computer. Check the cable, make sure the connections are tight. Check the cable for any damage (cuts, sharp bend, cable pulled out of connector). With the machine turned on, check the LED Status display on the machines control card, a red “8”, “2” or “-“, should be lit up the display, if not check the fuses.

Make sure the machine is turned on, the cable is connected to the machine and the computer.

If you have the wrong machine selected follow below:
Open up the VR CNC Milling software and left click on the Setup tab, upper left of the computer screen, and select Setup Machine Parameters. Type in the password denny (lower case) and click OK. Scroll up/down and look for MICROMILL, right click on the word MICROMILL and select Set As Active Machine. Click on OK at the bottom of the window. Wait a few seconds and the top left corner of the computer screen should read Virtual Reality CNC Milling – MICROMILL, now click on the Machine button on the right side of the screen to connect to the machine.

If still does not work, then try loading the software on another computer and connecting to the machine, you may have a bad RS-232 cable or the comm. port on the computer has gone faulty.
