Easiturn/error message

Post by Larry » Tue 06 Jul , 2010 15:01 pm

My Easiturn machine show the following message when i try to switch on "the X movement as exceed its movment". I tried moving my cross silde back to the centre point to see if this would clear the problem but it does not. Therefore can any one help in how to clear this.

thanks
Larry Cheeseman.

I presume this is a PNC3 control?

It sounds like the control thinks that a limit switch is pressed in.
Have a look at the diagnostics in the "T" test. (power up control & press T)
If it's on a limit then it will be displayed near the bottom of the screen.

yes this is a PNC3 controller,

I tried what you quoted but this did not make any difference.

I don't know much about this machine and how it works as I have only just got the machine.

If anyone can help me I will be grateful, ALso is there anyone in the Bedford area who has the same machine who would be willing to help me.

You can phone me on 01234 210638.

Thanks Larry

Hi Larry,

The line you need to look at is,
O/T'S: -X+, 2+, X-, Z-
It looks like all the overtravels are showing up as faults. I guess this is more than just a switch that is stuck in.
Is the
2+
a typing error? Z+

Hi Martin

Yes, the 2+ is a typing error it should be z+.

I have cheeked the fuses looking in side the top and all the green leads are all light

Do you know of anyone near Bedford area, who could up-grade my electronic as I think this would be the best way to solve the problem as it is an old machine.

What do you think? has I do not know much about the electronic side.

Thanks again for you help

I'd have a good look through www.cnczone.com for that sort of info.

It's still worth having a good inspection of all switches, plugs, pins etc... it could just be some wires or pins that are loose or corroded.
Even upgrading the electronics control may not fix all the problems, unless you intend carrying out a complete rewire...

Hi,
If the display diagnostic display is showing 'O/T'S: -X+, Z+, X-, Z', then it must be either a power supply fault on the controller or a break in the overtravel switch 'Common'.

You can check the power supply first by taking the lid off the controller & you should see 3 green LEDs lit on the top of the controller. The one furthest away from the front panel is the one associated with the limit switches.
If the LED is on then let me know & i will explain another test to prove if it is a controller fault or machine fault.

Hi Larry,
Do you have a multimeter you can use to check the cabling?

No i do not have a multimeter, As i do not know much about the electronics side of the machine.
But i found out that the sliding cover operate a cut out switch but these have been removed. I have now replace them and now a new massage, which say's " motor drive fault in x"
When reset and press T the following comes up on the screen :-
POST / DATA
Imputes / 11111111
Printer / 10
Dil Switches/ 110010
Cassette / 0001
M/C Switches / 1111
Datuns / 1100
Step & Dirn / 00000000
Drive Faults / 1110
O/T's:-
Serial link O/C

Hi Larry,

Not sure how far you got with the faulty CD20 drive card but on E bay there is a Orac rack for sale. There are 2 x CD20 drives in it.
E Bay item number 130424797712
