easimill conversion to mach 3

Post by disco » Wed 05 May , 2010 8:44 am

Hi to you all, i am new to this forum and I have just got my easimill after many months of looking, the tape recording system is not working so i was hoping that you guru's out there could walk me(very slowly as new to this cnc stuff) through converting my machine to run off mach 3????
In the short term i will try to use the machine using the serial link, that is if you kind gentlemen can tell how to do it, what i dont understand is what program i write the g code program in before i send it to my mill, i have been using it by typing the program into the machine manually but then cant save it as the tape not working, maybe i should go over to mach 3??
My machine is standard apart from an inverter which is mounted in the box at the rear which i guess runs the main motor( it is the varispeed model), i was told by the guy i got the machine from that the inverter was to do with the stepper motor drives??? i don't know and to be honest he did'nt know either(he was a dealer and was guessing i think)
Anyway i would be pleased of any help you can give me.

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Hi,
Not sure about the Mach side of things, but there are lots of people on here done it - it's going to be a case of browsing through this and the Artsoft forums for knowledge.
I think the Industrial Text Editor will be the place to upload CNC programs from

Hi,
I can repair the tape drive as well as anything on the controller. I used to work for the company (NEE) who built them.
The inverter is used to drive the spindle motor. The stepper motors are driven from the 3 drives situated under the VDU screen on the controller.

Thank you Denford Admin, all helpful stuff.
Yes Alanhende repair would be good but depends on cost as always.
I dont think it can be much as all the cassette commands come up on the screen as they should and
you can hear the tape unit motor(i think) running but the spindles dont turn????
Where are you in the country?
