I have a Denford Cyclone U fitted with a 130mm (~5") Leader pneumatic air chuck:

I would rather have a manual chuck so I want to replace this one (and sell it on). However I'm not sure how to remove it as there are so many bolt heads on its face as compared with a regular manual chuck. Also it seems to have an abnormally large 8" backplate.

Does anyone know how to remove this chuck and what mount I need on a manual chuck replacement?

Thanks

What is the largest manual chuck anyone has put on the Cyclone? The spec plate says 150mm max but that seems to be a non-standard size. So I've got the choice of either 125mm or 160mm. I would prefer the 160mm but would that cause a problem? I found out that the 200mm (~8") backplate is actually an oversized piston plate.

The size of chuck relates to the number of positions on the turret, due to tool clearance.
I've got a 6 position turret, and a 160mm chuck.
The 8 position turret came with a smaller chuck, which I think might have been 125mm.

You can use the smaller chuck with the 6 position turret, however if you use the big chuck with the 8 position turret, there are clearance issues between tools. With the 160/6 combo, the tools next to the current should clear the chuck, whereas with a 160/8 combo, they're not likely to clear.

Why would there be a clearance issue with the turret? Surely the turret would never pass over the chuck body. Besides, even with a smaller chuck you can open up the jaws to such an extent that it will be much bigger than 150 mm.

There’s only 5mm difference on the radius between 150mm (currently fitted) and 160mm. Would it make that much of a difference?

When parting off the internal tools areclose to the diameter of the chuck and could hit the chuck jaws if they stick out from the chuck body.
