hi there,

we have tu150 with desktop tutor fitted it has a problem booting up and will not initialise . We do not know for certain , but we may have a problem with the mint controller card which was made by a company called baldor.
i have sent it to them for repair/assesment but on receipt told me they no longer service this board full stop. they have the electrical drawings for this board but will not release it, i have also sent it to gotronic but they are also unable to attempt repair without drgs

As i say this may or may not be the problem, my service engineer by his own admission is not fully familiar with denfords maybe there is a service engineer local to midlands who may be able to help.

Failing that has anyone a similar machine i could try this board in (for a fee of course !)
or spares for one, or a machine with a fanuc system for sale ?

As u can see i am at moment up the creek without a paddle.
comments anyone ??

I'm guessing this is a rack based system with the Baldor card on the left slot ?
Unfortunately we don't have any rack systems we can test those boards with, but we may have an old spare one - I'll ask

What is the issue with booting up ? Does the screen come on ? What errors / led's can you see ?

I`M STILL WAITING FOR MY SERV ENGINEER TO PUT MY BOARD BACK IN & RECONNECT (I CAN`T REMEMBER WHERE THE SMALL RIBBON CABLE GOES) THEN I CAN TELL U EXACTLY WHAT THE ERROR MESSAGES ETC ARE.

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THE MESSAGE IS THE SAME WHETHER THE BOARD IS IN OR OUT !
AND ON FIRST BOOT IT STARTS REMOVING KEYBOARD & SCREEN DRIVERS

DID U HAVE ANY LUCK FINDING ONE ?

Sorry no we don't have any of those cards at all - apparently that rack uses an Optimised STEbus backplane and is quite rare.

HI AGAIN,

HAVE TRIED ALLSORTS TO GET THIS UP & RUNNING TO NO AVAIL.

IT IS BOOTING UP (STARTING WIN 98)
BUT IT GETS TO A POINT AND ON THE SCREEN IS THE FOLLOWING

ERROR (50) STE MINT CARD DISCONNECTED

EGA DRIVER REMOVED
KEYBOARD DRIVER REMOVED
RS232 DRIVER REMOVED
ERROR (128) SOFTWARE ABORTED

I HAVE TRIED UNPLUGGING THE EURO CARD (MINT CARD) AND RE-INSERTING BUT IT STILL COMES BACK TO THE SAME THING

I AM STILL PADDLING UP THE CREEK !!!

CAN ANYONE HELP , HAS ANYONE GOT SPARES OR IS THERE AN ENGINEER WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS MACHINE
AND PROBLEMS

I STILL CAN`T GET BALDOR TO RELEASE DRAWINGS FOR THE MINT CARD (COMPANY POLICY)
EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN FIXING IT THEMSELVES

THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE SAID IS HAVE IT RETROFITTED WITH ANOTHER CONTROL SYSYEM
WHICH IS WAY OUT OF BUDGET

Have you ever had it running?

What about the software? in particular the .opt & .go files.

Have you got a serial number for the machine?

Can you also post photos of the card rack and close-ups of the cards - there may be something missing

hi,

the guy we bought it off had been running it and moved it across his workshop and then got message `following error` which i believe is something to do with the encoder ?.it then stood for a year. we bought it with that error on the screen . when we powered it up in our shop (after replacing psu and batteries on boards) we are getting the error about the mint card being disconnected as i posted in earlier e-mail . i have spoken to guy i bought it off and he is a genuine guy and is adamant he has run this up to the `following error` message.

as regards .opt and .go files the boot up software has in it 38 files (incl hidden)

dripfeed.go
tu150.go
tu 150.opt

the serial number is 70829c 26/11/97 (supplied to hackney college)

i will send you some pictures this afternoon with the rack, mint card etc

The seven segment LED (LD1) on the backplane should display a "L" when the ste motion control card is powered up. Can you check that the small (ten pin I think ) ribbon cable is pluged in to the ste motion control card & the back plane. If it is & it does not function then you may need to look at the computer power supply. It may be worth trying the motion control in the spare slot to the left if you can.

we have made sure the 10 pin is home properly and have also teted th ribbon cable
there is still no led
we can`t fit the board into the spare slot as the computer card ribbon bracket fouls on the motion card

the psu power supply is showing =12v -12v and 5v
the computer is powering up but only to that error stage

How about removing the pc card to gain acces?

If the STE Motion Control card does not power up then the software will trip out.

Does this mean the ste board is faulty as the led light on the backplane does not illuminate ?

if there are no replacement boards available is there an upgraded board available ?
