Cyclone Fanuc reloading diagnostics problem

Post by Lone_Ranger » Mon 02 Jun , 2008 23:13 pm

Serious help needed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`ve just done a memory upgrade to one of my Denford Cyclone lathes, all went according to plan and the instructions up to the point of reloading the PMC/Diagnostics.

I find I am not able to reload either via RS232 or manually by hand and of course nothing works!!!

Background, the machine worked perfectly before the memory upgrade and there were no alarms/errors during the install process, NC Parameters and PMC/Diagnostics were all downloaded before the new memory installation and the NC Parameters reloaded no problem as did the Machine offsets info, only problem is with the PMC/Diagnostics!!

So, the question, is there some parameter etc that needs to be set before the PMC/Diagnostics can be reloaded or some special method specific to Denford machines??????????

Hope someone can help on this, it`s definitely one for the experts!!!

Regards
Rob

You will need to input the 900 parameters then the full parameters & the 450 diagnostics. If you have a serial number it may be possible to locate a complete set for your machine in the Denford archives.

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Exactly - the 900 parameters configure major system options like graphics type / memory size / PMC logic type etc... all these must be set before anything else will work.
Generally, you would then put in the relevant params to configure the RS232 port (so you can load up the originals)
Think these will be the relevant RS232 params:

Hi Martins

Thanks for the quick response, sorry for the delay but I`ve been out the workshop all morning.

Yes, you appear to be correct, the 900 Parameters are not there, well one of them is, Param 901 which is 11100001.

Serial Nos of the machine are

Main Serial No:- CY 02020 E
Electrics Serial No:- 9023675

Thanks for any assistance on this.

Regards
Rob

Again thanks for the quick response, appreciated.

The RS232 appears to work OK but as to why it didn`t download the 900 parameters with all the rest of the parameters I don`t know but that appears to be what has happened.

The machine has been working fine up to the memory upgrade, always been able to upload/download anything/everything so I`m surprised it hasn`t this time!!!

It downloaded the diagnostics as well no problem but won`t reload them for some reason so the PMC/Diagnostics from 0300 through 0499 are also missing and although I have these saved and printed out it looks like I can`t load these till I get the 900 parameters sorted.

Rob

Thanks, most of the machine is now working, I`ve reloaded all the PMC/Diagnostics by hand and the RS232 is now also OK and uploading/downloading again.
Couple of small things are not working such as the "soft" keys which may be in the parameters 910 through 919 which I don`t have.

At least it does seem to be operational again so the BIG question seems to be HOW MANY BEERS AND WHERE DO I SEND THEM :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

WHAT CAN I SAY, BRILLIANT, SORTED IN THE DAY :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

I think if you PM Triac Whizz he may be able to help with additional parameters

PS Had a quick look for a "buy me a beer" delivery website and didn't really find anything ..... seems like theres a gap in the market there

Thanks, will do.

Might be able to do a personal delivery as I`m only just over the hills near Accrington, problem is getting the Visa to cross the border being a Lancastrian and all, used to get them cheap from old "Auntie Wainwright" but I heard she had been raided so not sure where I`d get one these days!!!

Now he tells me, and there was me thinking all these years it was the A59 over "Blubberhouses" :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

In another life I drove that road many times way back before they ever straightened and widened it in an old ERF with no heater and brakes that needed you to write them a letter before you could use them!!!
No such thing as "The good old days" :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
Lot easier for drivers these days that`s for sure :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Thanks again for your help!!!

Rob
