Porter Cable

Post by colellir » Fri 30 Sep , 2011 12:34 pm

Folks,

I also am having problems with the Porter Cable router's spindle working. I changed the brushes and also the spindle 6.3 Amp fuse. When I run the machine, the router initially turns on, but immediately blows the fuse again. I shop vac the entire machine, blew air in the bushes holes and throughout the router. I cleaned out the E-stop also. Should I insert a 10 amp slow blow fuse instead of a 6.3 amp? Thanks.

I'd take a look at the commutator - is it clean ? Does it look worn out ?

I would get a multimeter & check that the live & neutral are not grounded inside he motor.

Be careful with different fuses, You may damage the PCB if fitted depending on age.
