Re: Starturn 5 and Starmill with TQ MA2000
I have worked with both the starturn and starmill but not the Arm (so I can only offer help on the mill and arm). Looks like an interesting setup. Provided you have the software to run the machines then yes you should just be able to replace the PCs and get them running. If the software was put onto...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Nice to see you got things moving. Ive only been on here a short time and was a little frustrated about a lack of others putting in their 2p. But pleased with the amount of info there is if you can dig through it all. I was fortunate that I have always kept a couple of old school PCs kicking about (...

Re: HELP ! cannot connect to Starmill 1989
Ive got the later board (GSM LCB3) which has the 25pin RS232 on the case (9 pin on the PC) I found through looking at the various wiring diagrams some changes were made at various points (the wiring on the board itself to the case was changed with quite different pinout being written on the drawing ...

Re: HELP ! cannot connect to Starmill 1989
I presume you have tried this lot but Ill run through possible RS232 lead not correctly wired (I had a genuine Denford/Lindy lead came with my Starturn, TX/RX were the wrong way round in the lead so I opted to alter the wiring in the cabinet). Do you have DTS wired too? RS232 port on PC or in the so...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Just a few other points which you probably have picked up on from reading on the site. I noticed the laptop in the picture, you really need a PC with 'proper' RS232 built in, you may be able to get it to run from a USB to RS232 but to eliminate connectivity issues an 'Old School' PC should be used. ...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Yep as Martin says it would run on VR 2 or 5. The later having the ability to import DXF files and doing the post processing within the program. So I think its called 2.5D milling, 2D milling but with the option of multiple depths rather than full on 3D milling. Most people only want to do 2.5D but ...

Re: Simple way to convert Black line drawing to Red for cutt
I think it will come down to the graphics program you are using.
If you post up what you have access to then people may be able to respond better.
With most programs you can select a colour and replace it with another, so you would need to be able to select which lines you want to replace.

Re: VR Milling v5.56 released 3rd April 2014
Just a note. I have found that if you have a Micromill 2000 (circa 2002 With red 7 segment display V2.1 or V2.13 software; the versions in the machines I have tried) the settings within VR5 are not correct. In the Micromill 2000 DENSTEP from the legacy machine option. To stop getting the Access Viol...

BINGO!!!! It was the control type being set to 0 rather than 20 by the software. Would never have found it if I hadn't spent time checking the old version to the new.
Really pleased to have them back up and running!!

Re: Access Violation at address 0040A72B in module
Just been reading around a bit more and found this http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=234 1. Check the PC COM Port is working (I.e. plug in a serial mouse) 2. Check that the RS232 cable is Denford supplied or made to Denford spec 3. Make sure the correct machine is selected (See blue b...

Re: Extraction Advice
Ive just had this happen
If I were to go down the route of hard wiring a manual start/stop on the extraction do I just need to unplug the USB lead to the extractor unit to stop the Carbon filter warning coming up?
Cheers

Re: Access Violation at address 0040A72B in module
Yep, red 7 seg led display on control board, Micromill 2000 selected from the legacy list. Im going to do a little investigating now. One machine is a year older than the other, I have been at the school from before they were supplied, and did most of the work using them. There was an eprom upgrade ...

Re: Access Violation at address 0040A72B in module
Ive just been trying to get the 2 micromill 2000s back up and running at work and facing the same issue. All worked fine on V2 when I had 'my' network in school, the school upgraded the network to Win7 and I had to become part of it. As a result I lost the access to do anything other than log in and...

Re: G Code
Ive been having a ponder/read about this.. Still need to work out the G32 / G76 and why G32 isn't liked by the starturn But looking at the G76 code. To change from an External to an internal do I just need to produce the code for an external and swap the finish depth from the threads minor to the th...
Re: G Code
had a bit of a fail when I came to testing this one (the gearbox in my ATC stripped a tooth) However I did run the program whilst 'machining air' With the threading section in the QuickTurn file the chuck kept spinning quite fast and the tool feed was very slow. I drew up a piece the same size on La...
