Re: Triac Z axis counter-balance

Cambell board this is to protect the 8v proximiters fom the 12v coming from the board. The guy that got it from me could not grasp that and thought i had done something really bad wiring the 8v proximiters to 12v so i thought i would explain.

Re: Triac Z axis counter-balance

Yes they are home switches . The dangling one is definatly not as it was . I will dig around see if i kept the settings . I think it was safely fast traversing at 5m/min If it had a bit more voltage at the drives it would go a bit faster i think i had a 55v transformer and i think it would go to abo...

Have you had any issues with the spindle making small movements when it is supposed to be idle?

Re: Triac Z axis counter-balance

Re -ball them . You can buy selectiv size balls so you can eliminate backlash. Just found this thread with contact info of a company that does re-balling :) http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4714 Dave Dave the reballing is really easy to do and costs pennies . I will have a contact ...

Re: Triac Z axis counter-balance

Dave
I don't know who you got the machine from but when i sold it there was a spare motor with it , as i was going to put a 4th axis on it . I saw some similar motors on ebay last week .
I have just bought a denford microrouter and was thinking about converting it to servos.

Re: Triac Z axis counter-balance

Not sure how the zaxis ballscrew comes out i never had to remove any of the screws, it sounds like its been in a damp place if there's trouble with all the screws as they were mint. If the shafts are ok you can re-bal l

Re: Triac Z axis counter-balance

Hi Dave Nice to know its still around it was a good project. I never did measure the force on the z axis although it was very light to move , with the gas strut in place and with it removed the axis ran away on its own . If theres anything i can help you with i will although its a while since i did ...

The Transformer was off the cd20 drives so it could be what you say, i can't get in to see the spec. very well because of the position of the transformer. The difference with stepper drives is they pull max. amps at standstill so the power supply has to be rated continuous at what ever amps, so if t...

Hi I got some nice struts off Ebay they were stainless steel and adjustable . the power supply i used was off the cd20 steppers and to be honest i am not sure of its output capability, it looks quite large and very heavy, if i had to guess i would say about 15 amps. The E240 motors pull about 4 amps...

Hi

I did some tests with the spindle today and i was not wrong,
0 - 3000rpm in 2 seconds,

3000rpm - 0 in 2 seconds ,

3000rpm forward to 3000 rpm reverse in 4 seconds.

This is still using the original triac spindle motor.

Not bad i think.

Hi John The spindle drive is an Automation Direct GS2, there are loads of ways to control this drive, i have used direction and 0-10v analogue signal for the speed , the drive can be controlled by a serial (rs232) input or a Lan conection so its quite versatile. There are a couple of ways to configu...

hi Per The probe was bought from Arnie, a guy who sells them on the mach3 forum at 100 us.dollars + shipping. They seem reasonably well made for the money,I have not done any accuracy tests with it ,I have just played with it. There is no processor in the probe, the de-bounce is taken care of in the ...

Here is a video of a digitizing program running in mach3 on a fan blade . I will try to post a picture of the model created from the point cloud. Its not perfect as the fan was moving slightly and i used quite a large stepover but you can see the possibilities . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3srDez...
