Re: Might break my Viceroy..

Ahh yes, I should have thought of that! If my memory serves me correctly it's a TDS-1. So leadscrew, no gearbox, no power cross feed. I will get some pictures and see if the parts would be of any use to people, which will help me to make a decision.

Thanks! :D

Might break my Viceroy..

Hi guys, basically I acquired a Denford Viceroy a few years ago in a state of considerable disrepair and it was always my intention to fix it up, perhaps in a semi-cnc configuration. This has not happened yet.. and I'm worried that I will never get round to it and it was sit in my garage rusting awa...

Re: Installing a TDS 1/1GB

@Twoberth that is amazing information! I have been trying to figure this all out for ages! Would there be any chance of you posting some pictures to accompany your description? Specifically of the fixings attaching the lathe to the cabinet?

Many thanks,

Rob.

Re: Screw thread chart

I have been looking through the drawings recently and can't seem to find anything, though I do recall seeing a drawing at some point. It could have been a for a gearbox model I can't really remember. The photo which I based the drawing on was good but the details of the numbers around the different ...

Screw thread chart

My Viceroy is a pretty basic model, no gearbox and no power cross slide. Despite this it will suit my very basic needs and I am attempting to get it back to running order. The guy I bought it from had managed to loose pretty much everything smaller than a fist including all the gears, studs, nuts an...

Stud/bolt sizes?

Can someone tell me what size the studs that hold the lathe to the cabinet are? And also what size the bolts which hold the countershaft to the cabinet are? Pictures of the latter would also be super!

Cheers

Re: TDS 1 bits

Bump? Could do with the nut which holds the change wheels on the end of the lead screw? And also any change wheels.. I don't actually have the plate with the gears and stuff on it so if anyone has one that would help me figure out which ones I need?

Re: New user with old machine

The graduations are in 0.25, 0.50 0.75 etc and on the drill they look be in mm as well up to 5cm so I'm guessing metric? If so that makes me happy! I will have a further look at the lever tomorrow. I have got the machine as one piece (mostly..) as of this afternoon so I will stick some pictures up. ...

Re: New user with old machine

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to tell if my machine is metric or imperial? And also what type of thread would be in the tumble reverse selector as the lever is missing from mine and I would like to fashion a new one :D

Re: New user with old machine

Thanks! I will endeavor to do so!

I'm just sloshing a bit of paint on the cabinet whilst it's in bits so I will post some pictures once I'm near putting it back together!

TDS 1 bits

I could do with a cover for the changewheels if anyone happens to have one? Could also do with the lever which engages the gears as mine is missing. Probably numerous other things so if anyone is breaking a machine that would maybe be best haha.

New user with old machine

Just thought I would introduce myself. I have just got hold of an old Viceroy lathe.. think it's a TDS 1 but I'm not sure as it was dark when I got it home last night in a massive pile of bits :D It looks to be in a pretty bad state.. no gearbox only change wheels and I daresay when I start putting ...
