Re: QuickCAM License Cost

Not 100% on costs but i bought vr turning and i think it was about £250 £300. I'd get on the phone for a quicker response. There was a post recently from Steve (I think) about transfer of licences from owner to owner. So what to do if you have a licence and sell the machine. As far as i know the onl...

Re: Novamill Stepper motors dead?

If i remember correctly the steppers are direct on the lead screws on the novamill. With the machine powered down check you can freely turn the lead screws and try putting x y in the mid travel point. When you tell it to home it should home Z up to the limit switch them back off to clear it. This is...

Re: How to view Up! G-code?

What are you using to convert you stl files to gcode? We have a couple of creality machines in work and use Cura to do the slicing/post processing. Why not dload that and look at the speed settings for the ender3 and the up machines. I know it can all be tweaked in Cura.

Just a thought for down the line, do you have usb on your novamill? Do you have rs232 port on your laptop? Start reading up on all the posts about getting things talking. Pete

Re: Software/License Help!

Without checking the list myself, have you checked which version of the software you can run. I dont know if denford will still do vr2, so if you can you want vr5, easy to dload BUT you need to talk to denford about a licence £££, some people gut and sell on the control and fit other stuff. Im happy...

Re: Novamill Connection Issue

There is a thread somewhere on how to find the file with the licence text, you can download the software from the main denford site and then paste the text back into the file. You should be able to prove your computer and com port on any of your other machines. The com port is set via bios or within...

Re: Alignment jig for front panel

not used a 2600 but on the Microrouter there is an Aluminium L sections under the X travel lead screws. For doing just what are doing I have fixed 18mm MDF or Plywood to tham and then screwed through the Rack fixing points (You can use the router to machine holes to screw insert nuts into https://ww...

Re: Micro Router 2nd Hand

you could try one of those temp sensors (look like a 'ray gun') just look at the temps on components, when i worked in electronics we would use freezer spray and a small nozzle heat gun, to try and warm or cool components to see if that was an issue, sometimes it was a dry joint on a connector or ch...

Re: Laptop not communicating with VL300

I just realised you have the VL300, ours is a VL200, as for the end of the road Ours is from 2004! OK we have had to replace one of the internal PSUs and are on our 3rd laser tube, 2nd honeycomb bed and 2nd set of lens/mirrors. Have you tried a new USB lead? I know you will have as you have already ...

Re: Laptop not communicating with VL300

seen this quite a lot over the years and it has always been cured by pulling all the plugs (usb/mains) booting everything up and then plugging usb in again. OR un installing everything and reinstalling, OR by plugging in to another USB port. We have it if a kid is still logged in and rather than sig...

Re: Triac PC spindle motor speed varies by its self

Sounds good. I don't think the screen reflects actual speed just what speed is being called for by the 0-10v out from the control. If you want a cheep solution get a contactless RPM meter ~£10 from amazon fire up the spindle dial in the speed then run the program.

Re: 4th axis

I only did it for this job, normally I use the vacuum bed, It was really so I could secure the oak to the sac bed and then it was easier to secure that to the other in the machine. The microrouter doesn't have a bed as such, just 2 rails on the x. I won't do anything like that again with a school pr...

Re: Triac PC spindle motor speed varies by its self

The control board will still output it's version of the 0-10v if the g code is there, just ensure you have disconnected the wires from it to the sprint so you only have the pot. I like the idea of the 10turn pot, I'm not sure if the display will report the actual spindle speed set by the pot or what...

Re: 4th axis

I did some light oak for a kids project at school. I learnt the hard way... a couple of cutters and waisted wood. Most important thing is rigidity, clamp it down! I had 18mm ply clamped to the machine, an 18mm ply sacrificial bed screwed into the back of the Oak and then to the 18mm clamped to the m...

Re: Triac PC spindle motor speed varies by its self

according to the sprint diagram there should be 10v on pin 1, it might only become enabled when the drive is turned on, for testing you could just put a switch across pin 4-5. Does the triac not have a manual over ride pot you could just re task for the moment to test? You do need to be careful with...

Re: Triac PC spindle motor speed varies by its self

You should be able to prove if its the sprint by disconnecting the 0-10v from the denford control and just wiring a pot as per the diagram for the sprint I pointed you to. that way you can manually alter the speed and see if it stays stable or hunts. If it is fine then it points to the problem being...
