4th Axis rough treatment

Hi All, This one is rather embarassing as its the result of rough treatment when removing the 4th Axis to free up room on the bed. Now I have finished cutting my 2D stuff I have reattached the 4th Axis to the bed and the memory came back to me from when i disconnected the communication cable a few m...

Re: Drives disabling

Many thanks for your advice guys, I have sorted the issue with a good clean and powering down a few times and have been happily cutting since. If this issue resurfaces i'll be checking back to this post and checking for flashing of LEDs....... I take it they are located within the control panel?

Re: Drives disabling

I have checked the wires (what I can see of them) and there are no signs of damage or play. Tried homing the machine again and it stopped dead on the Y movement. Reconnected to the machine and will jog in the X & Z but an attempt to jog on the Y is unsuccessful and prompts "Axis in Error" dialogue b...

Drives disabling

Experiencing an issue with the drives diabling when cutting straight upwards on the Y axis. I'm cutting 18mm MDF with a 12.7mm cutter with a 100% stepdown on the cutter which I have been doing happily for some 40 sheets with no issue. Now what happens is when I get to a part of the program that requ...

Open Contours

I have students wanting to cut out components on our vertical router. they are importing the DXFs selecting each group of contours that make up the component and hitting 'join' when in the CAM wizard the pop up says "contains open contours" and the machining plan cuts the thing to pieces.

Any ideas?

Re: Alter default safe height in Denford post processor file

We have identified the issue with the Z axis not physically moving, it turned out to be a loose pulley wheel on the drive screw..tightened the grub screw and all sorted!

Re: Alter default safe height in Denford post processor file

Thanks for that, I checked the z position across the 25mm sacrificial board and there is a discrepancy! must be because the cut surface of the MDF has alowed the atmospheric moisture to enter from that side. I have been into the post file and altered the Safe2 from 5.08 to 10mm and saved. However no...

Re: Adjustment of Safe height

It sounds like the sheet is lifting up off the bed - how're you holding down the MDF ? [/color] We have a 25mm MDF sacrificial board mounted to the T slots in the machine bed with bolts and the 18mm MDF workpiece is screwed directly to it. I'm not entirely convinced that there would be that amount ...

Adjustment of Safe height

I have been experiencing some difficulties when cutting components on the vertical router using QuickCAM 2d software. When cutting out several large components on one sheet the tool does not fully raise up out of the material and cuts an unwanted channel when the machine moves to the next component....
