denford starmill pc cnc milling machine - hardly used
I will sell this for £800. You can collect from Chelmsford Essex or I can pallet it and courier to you at your cost. The details are on ebay, but I will end the auction and sell it here if anyone wants it. I have had it in storage for 2 years and need the space. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/denford-sta...

Re: Security key not connected - still struggling with StarM
Thanks again. No, when purchased it had not been used for 10 years but was sitting in a corner looking brand new (all together with computer but no leads plugged in). Guessing that computer was not the one that had it running even though all software was on it and it came with original floppy discs....

Re: Security key not connected - still struggling with StarM
Thanks for that.Denford Admin wrote:When you run drights you should see something like this screen - your screenshot appears to be running fanucsmd
You are right of course, I didn't run it at all.
I will go back and run it now that I have set parallel port to ECP and see what Drights shows me.
thanks

Re: Security key not connected - still struggling with StarM
Are you saying the dongle runs Mill Cam Designer & not Fanucm? If so then the dongle is working correctly but may never have been programed for Fanucm? From what I can see Fanucm is offline software. Is this what you are wanting. I presume the correct software for the machine is Fanucsmd. Thanks fo...

Re: Security key not connected - still struggling with StarM
thanks again guys. Right, I got in and found that the parallel port was on SSP (I think). The options I could change it too were, EPP1.7, ECPEPP1.7 OR ECP. So I went with ECP. I will test the machine to see if it works in a moment. PS when I chose the ECP option, another option opened below it calle...

Re: Security key not connected - still struggling with StarM
Right, did that and it worked a treat thanks. Said dongle not detected (even though I have it shoved hard into the back). I read on this forum somewhere that this could mean the parallel port is not configured correctly or something and I had to go into the BIOS. Would you be able to explain what I ...

Dongle not connected - still struggling with StarMill
Following on from my previous problems... I have installed the original floppy discs onto a different computer that has two serial ports. When I run Fanucm, the message "Security key not connected" is shown. I do not know what this means for a start, let alome how to fix it. I have the dongle insert...

Re: Fanuc commands for Starmill PC
Thanks again Martin. I downloaded Drivers2 as you suggested, but did not put it in the Fanucsmd folder as you can see. I placed the fanucsmd, starmill and drivers2 in the Denford folder. I will put the drivers2 folder into the fanucsmd folder tomorrow and have another go. I am getting really excited...

Re: Fanuc commands for Starmill PC
I tried the downloads.
I unzipped them to the hardrive. I don't know if they installed properly.
I hope the attached word doc. with screen dumps shows what trouble I am having.
Any ideas?
Thanks for helping,
Tim

Re: Fanuc commands for Starmill PC
You are right and I also have a capture device that records live motion upon the screen (on another computer). The reason I used camera in this case (one with no viewfinder, just point and hope it captures something - cost £8 ) was the computer and machine was in workshop, not hooked up to internet,...

Re: Fanuc commands for Starmill PC
Martin, thank you so much, once again. I will search those downloads out now. Are the pieces of software self explanatory or do I simply open the test.fnc (coded design) stored in the denford/Data folder, using the fanucsmd.exe programme and the milling starts? Thanks again for the invaluable help, ...

Starmill pc 95 manual? and Fanuc Milling Manual (Dos)?
I have looked in the download section and cannot see the manual (does not mean it is not there; I am known for not seeing the wood for the trees). Millcam designer will create a design and code it for me, but Fanuc Milling software appears to open in Dos and I don't have a manual or clue how to get ...

Re: Fanuc commands for Starmill PC
Here are 3 photos from my keyring camera. Ignore date (I don't know how to change it). Photos show (1) The Fanuc Milling (Dos?) programme that is waiting for me to type the magic command that will open the saved file in the DATA folder and start the milling machine (I hope!). (2) The data folder wit...

Following on from the threads mentioned below where I am trying to get a great piece of equipment and software working: http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=3445 or viewtopic.php?f=45&t=2517 I tried again tonight. I simply did not attach the desktop tutor keyboard (because there is no p...

starmill pc 1995 - all there - what am I doing wrong?
Following on from some useful info in this thread: http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=2517 I am only just getting round to finding out if I can make the machine work (the chap storing it for me either wants me to get it working for him or get rid of it). From the previous thread, it a...
