If you are receiving errors about an ocx file, registering the file may solve the problem. To register an ocx file simply follow the simple steps below.

1.Locate the file using windows explorer or My Computer. Alternatively search for the filename.

2.Hold down the shift key and right click on the file. Then click 'Open With...' from the menu.

3.An 'Open With' dialog box should appear. Click the button 'Other...'.

4.Navigate to your Windows XP, windows\system32 directory and select the file 'RegSvr32.exe'. Do a file search for it if you have trouble locating the exact folder. On Windows 2000 it is typically located in c:\WINNT\System32. Click Open to select the file. Then click OK on the 'Open With' dialog.

5.You should see a message indicating the file was successfully registered. If you see an error message, try restarting your computer and going through the above process again.

You may also struggle getting an OCX file to register if you don't have high enough system access rights - contact your system administrator

I have this problem when trying to install Easy Upgrader 2 on a Windows 10 PC.

Typical error message:-

Error 1904.Module C:\EasyUpgrader 2\MintControls5282.ocx failed to register. HRESULT-2147220473. Contact your support personnel.

----------

Uninstalling and reinstalling EasyUpgrader makes no difference.

Is there a method of manually registering these files on Windows 10?

Thanks, Max.

I managed to sort that one out, but when trying to register the file I get the attached error message.

Hi Max. If you look in the 'Machine Easy Upgrader' directory on the CD, right click on the file Setup.exe, and choose 'Run as administrator'. Hopefully that will install correctly.

That works! Thanks.

Problem is that if I close, then later reopen, EasyUpgrader I get the same error message relating to a .ocx fie not registering. Solution is to uninstall then reinstall EasyUpgrader.

Max.

Hi Max,

Have you tried to run Easy Upgrader 2 as Administrator?

Mitch

That works. Thanks Mitch.

The sequence in Windows is:-

Right click on "Easy Upgrader2".
Left click on "More".
Left click on "Run as administrator".

Max.
