Thread Dial Indicator

Post by riley » Wed 13 Dec , 2017 18:45 pm

Looking for help.

I have recently purchased a TDI for my Viceroy TDS1/2P/C/S serial no. M17886. The TDI appears to be that of a 30T item and matches the details given in drg ML109. The problem that I am having is the TDI will not remain mated with the feedshaft when in operation. Applying pressure to keep it in engagement you can feel the TDI trying to dis-engage until a point is reached where there is enough flex in the feedshaft for it to lose register.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

I don't understand this.

If you engage the TDI and wind the carriage backwards and forwards does the dial turn correctly ?
You should be able to spin the indicator freely when disengaged.
Is it the correct gear for the leadscrew ?, does it mesh properly ?
