Triac over ruuning X axis on home

Post by ricey3 » Wed 22 Jul , 2015 14:26 pm

I seem to like Triacs with issues.

I have a PC model of 1997 vintage, serial number TR19057G. I've just got it set up running VR Milling version 5 via its USB upgrade as a VME.

Have a strange issue where when homing the X axis it does not want to stop running and goes to the point of stall.

The home switch is being activated on the diagnostics and I can see the X home switch character illuminate on the home page.

Now if I back the Y axis off from its home point by 20mm and just home the X axis it performs fine, basically works perfectly as long as the X homes before the Y.

Everything has been cleaned etc and operates exactly as you'd expect in terms of home and limit switches, any Ideas?

Turns out to of been a short on the x axis stepper neg and one of the signal lines. Obviously repeated use had flexed the conduit and cable to the point the insulation was damaged.
