Fanuc Triac ATC problem

Post by tsteele » Fri 28 Feb , 2014 11:04 am

I have recently acquired a Fanuc Triac Serial No. 51220B which had belonged to Neath College in Wales. I am having issues with the ATC indexing. The symptoms are as follows:

If I run a tool change in MDI, the carousel only indexes half way between pockets. I have checked the ATC sensor and it is producing 0V or 24V depending on the ATC spindle flat position. The information which came with the machine suggests that Diagnostics 451 should be 11000011, but this has been changed in pencil to 11000001, which seems to be turning off the carousel=2 revs per pocket option and this is what the machine is actually set to. When I set 451 to 11000011 however, the carousel simply keeps rotating continuously either in MDI or if a manual jog is attempted.

Has anyone any ideas as to what might be the cause?

Spoke with Martin who was very helpful and suggested resetting the 451 diagnostic parameter and then setting diagnostic 453 to zero. Magically this has fixed the problem. The tool changer now indexes properly.

Many thanks Martin.
