Triac to Mach 3 conversion help for a novice

Post by suesi34e » Sat 21 Sep , 2013 21:54 pm

Dear All,

I am new to CNC machines but keen to learn, so if anything can be explained in simple terms it would be great! I have a Triac VMC with 8 atc Machine serial No, H00741 Electrics serial No, OC 00253433. I would like to upgrade it and convert it to run on Mach3. I have been told the motors are fine but that I will need a break out board and spindle control unit I think to control its speed but am not sure. I have no computer of software but expect to go for bobcad.
If anyone could be kind enough to help with any of the following it would be great and much appreciated:
1. A list of all the parts I would need to change, item or part numbers would be great as would instructions where possible on how to do so.
2. An idea of any special skill and a guide to the hours required would be handy.
3. Info on anyone on the south coast that has done Triac with atc conversion, who may give advice or actually help of course for payment.

I to add some photos when I have worked it out how to.

Many thanks in advance for any help given.

Best regards

Sues
