How to access the electrics on a Triac with PNC3controller

Here's how:
  • Remove the small screws around the front console (from what I remember I think it was three small countersunks at the top plus a larger cap-head at each end at the bottom - but maybe more)
  • Remove the two screws at the back of the machine so the electrical cover swings down and reveals the electrics
  • Unplug the 2 x 24 way black plastic multiway plugs that connect the electrics to the rest of the machine (each plug is about 2" x 1" in size)
  • Unplug the two speaker cables (just check there are no additional cables connecting the electrics to the machine)
  • Now push on the bottom of the electrics! They're mounted on a plate on runners, so the whole thing should slide out the front of the machine giving you access to back of the 7" vdu. As you're pushing keep an eye out for any cables getting trapped
Don't push too far because there isn't a "stop" to stop the electrics falling out of the front of the machine, but you can safely have them sticking out of the front of the machine by about a foot. We used to remove them furtherby putting them on a bench placed infront of the machine.
Some of the later Triacs had an additional cables connecting the electrics to the Machine column, such as ATC electrics or machines fitted with a DC spindel motor so these may need disconnecting too!
