Triac ATC RS232 communications TO PC request

Post by cncbasher » Mon 11 Aug , 2008 10:54 am

i am trying to communicate over the rs232 link from a pc , this may be a Fanuc version ( taking the F in the serial to mean Fanuc ) but not sure .

on selecting the rs232 data link it just sits their waiting

having read the forum , regarding the notes on selecting the T button
which should give a test screen and change on shorting out the plug etc
i do not have any text on the screen only a graphic circle with intersecting
lines , so probably a different software version .

my Triac ATC is an 1988 machine serial TR31038F
Electronics 340

Sounds like you've got a NEE-PNC version

The circle & lines appears on the top monitor.
The small built-in monitor should have the test menu.

ok Cheers ,
the problem is that i dont have the small monitor working , i thought that the 12" monitor replaced the inbuilt monitor , i have also found out that the cassette is not working , so perhaps a power supply problem or something a bit deeper , i'll dig the multimeter and scope out and poke around the circuits

yes it's a northeast Electronics pcb , as a matter of fact their only 20 miles or so from me , thats if they still exist .

The 2 x monitors show the same stuff unless..
- You're in the test menu
- You're doing Graphic Simulation
Which is a bugger because the test menu is the best way to checkout the RS232 link at the machine end!
